Xi’nasi is a natural village in Yongshun County, located near the 960-meter high Guniu Mountain. Xi’nasi means a place full of flowers in the Tujia language.
Xi’nasi is a combination of beautiful natural scenery and peaceful Tujia ethnic residences.
It has a time-honored history and culture and has preserved than 10 ancient dwellings with over 200 years of history, 41 old folk residences with more than 50 years of history, as well as thousand-year-old ancient trees and the ruins of a hundred-year-old castle.
In recent years, Xi’nasi has been exploring its historical and cultural advantages and natural resources and has carried out the improvement of its infrastructure, upgraded its environment and started the renovation of its characteristic folk residences, fully promoting the construction of a beautiful village. It has paved over 2,000 meters of stone paths, expanded 1,500 meters of road, newly built 1,700 meters of footpath, reconstructed 43 folk residences and built a large parking lot and public toilet facilities.
Xi’nasi aims to develop itself into a leisure and tourist destination integrated with natural scenery, Tujia customs, green agricultural products and a livable environment, on its own path to rural revitalization.
As a traditional ancient village with more than 460 years of history, Xi’nasi has retained many traditional lifestyles, such as planting mulberries, raising silkworms and bee-keeping. It has a variety of traditional handicraftsmen, including carpenters and masons. Xi’nasi also has a colorful folk culture, most notably playing suona and singing Yang opera.
